C3A event at the Paris Summit
At the OECD headquarters, an official side event of the Paris Summit for a New Global Financing Pact was jointly organized by the Coalition of Finance Ministries for Climate Action and the C3A program.
The side-event was entitled “Leveraging Capacities for Finance Ministries on Climate Action” and featured a panel discussion between the two Co-Chairs Sherpas of the Coalition of Finance Ministers for Climate Action Masyita Crystallin and Ralien Bekkers, the Vice president for Sustainable Development at the World Bank Juergen Voegele, Amar Bhattacharya (Brookings), Fatima Denton (UNU-INRA), Tom Heller (CPI), and Morgan Despres (European Climate Foundation).
Following introductory remarks by H.E. Sri Mulyani Indrawati and H.E. Sigrid Kaag, respectively Ministers of Finance of Indonesia and the Netherlands, the panel highlighted the role of Finance Ministries in the net-zero transition, focusing on fiscal policies, investment planning, and reinforcing the private sector contribution to ambitious climate objectives. This hybrid side event was also the opportunity to officially launch the C3A Program and express a common ambition, capitalizing on the creation of existing Networks such as the NGFS.
