C3A organized two workshops at the World Bank Fall Meetings in Marrakech on October 12th. Back to back to the Ministerial meeting of the Coalition of Finance Ministers for Climate Action, these workshops aimed at designing the roadmaps of C3A Thematic Hubs together with Ministries of Finance and initiate a discussion on needs of Ministries of Finance for analytical tools.

Faced with an active international climate finance agenda, the C3A program, given its demand-driven nature, remains active in events, workshops, and seminars connected to key players in this context. The Ministerial meeting of the Coalition of Finance Ministers for Climate Action, held in October 2023 in Marrakech, was an opportunity to have in-depth discussions with representatives from Ministries of Finance of the Coalition.

In order to advance in the phase of assessing demands, C3A prepared and conducted two workshops: the first focused on addressing challenges and opportunities for capacity building and knowledge sharing in relation to central issues related to the C3A Thematic Hubs, such as Fiscal and Debt Sustainability in the Transition, Green Innovation and Competitiveness, Nature, and Adaptation. The second aimed at discussing the needs related to climate macroeconomic modeling of Ministries of Finance from emerging and developing countries.

With the aim of gathering information, insights, needs, and potential opportunities for topics such as political challenges, analytical tools, as well as the ideal format for action, one of the main positive results was the high level of commitment and participation demonstrated. These workshops were also critical to the collection of information and contributions for C3A to act in a precise manner aimed at fulfilling the climate issues already posed and which are or will be faced by a group of countries. These two workshops brought together more than 100 participants from a wide range of backgrounds.
